The Chesterton 1400R Carbon Reinforced Graphite Packing is a reinforced braided graphite tape packing with a passive corrosion inhibitor. The carbon yarn provides reinforcement within the graphite tape yarn as well as the braided construction. 1400R packing forms a homogeneous mass under gland pressure, so that leakage is minimized in the packing set. The combination carbon/graphite set withstands higher shaft speeds while seeing limited shaft/stem friction. The structural carbon fiber reinforcement drastically lowers extrusion when 1400R packing sets are installed in valves at higher pressures.
