Description
The Chesterton 14K Restrictor Bushing is used in rotary equipment to form a barrier between the sealing device in the stuffing box or the pump impeller housing and the fluid in a mixing tank. The resulting restriction reduces flush requirements and minimizes suspended abrasive particles from entering the stuffing box area. This prolongs service life of installed packing sets or mechanical seals.
The tapered lip design conforms to equipment confirms to equipment eccentricities to minimize the annular gap formed around rotating shafts, creating the smallest possible free flowing area for controlling flush flow rates. Additionally the increased pressure drop with the 14K creates a uniform flush around the shaft. This is critical in minimizing particulates from entering the stuffing boz envelope. The dynamic lip acts as a check valve when the flush is shut off.
The solid 14K reduces the number of packing rings required by the stuffing box. This helps reduce frictional force. Additionally it helps to keep the lantern ring in position and maintains the optimum flush rate.
